MISSION: The Youth and Education Law Society (YELS) exists to:
*Protect the interests and rights of youth at school, at home, and before the law
*Advocate for youth interests in working towards equality in education and fair and equal access to legal protection;
*Improve the conditions for youth in education, juvenile justice and foster care;
*Empower youth through education, providing youth with the legal tools to protect themselves
*Inform the Boalt Community about pressing legal issues confronting youth today.
*Create a network
among Boalt students and organizations who share YELS' commitment to social
justice
CURRENT PROJECTS:
YELS SPEAKER SERIES keeps the Boalt community informed and engaged in current youth and education issues
JUVENILE JUSTICE OUTREACH PROJECT gives Boalt students the opportunity to empower youth in detention centers through education
YELS JOB FORUM keeps Boalt students informed about job opportunities in the field of youth and education law
FACILITATE and SUPPORT Boalt students as they
strive for equal protection and justice for youth
